The Problem

What needed solving

Hub.xyz was building a gamified social platform where users earn XP, level up, compete on leaderboards, and engage through AI-powered Discord agents — all tied to Web3 wallet connections. The product spanned 7 core feature modules with desktop and mobile variants, a 10-level progression system, quest chapters, and referral mechanics. The challenge was coordinating design output across a fast-moving team while maintaining quality through systematic design QA across every approved screen.

The Constraints

Rules I worked within

01

Must manage 7 production modules (Onboarding, Dashboard, Referrals, Leaderboards, Feeds, How It Works, Rewards) through design approval workflow.

02

Gamification system required 10 progression levels with unique illustrations, XP tracking, badges, and level-up modals.

03

Design QA had to catch issues across desktop and mobile variants — tracking 30+ bug tickets through Discord with screenshot documentation.

04

Dark-themed UI with gradients, mask fragments, and glassmorphic surfaces required pixel-level review for visual consistency.

The Impact

Measurable outcomes

7 modules
Production Delivery

Managed design delivery for 7 approved production modules — Onboarding, Dashboard, Referrals, Leaderboards, Feeds, How It Works, and Rewards — each with mobile and desktop variants.

30+ tickets
Design QA

Identified and documented 30+ design issues through systematic QA — tracking bugs via Discord tickets with annotated screenshots for each defect.

10 levels
Gamification System

Oversaw the design of a 10-level progression system with XP tracking, level-up modals, reward badges, and quest chapters.

Component library
Design System

Managed a shared component library — progress indicators, level carousels, circular progress bars, tabs, network circles, and creator cards.

Key Takeaway

Design QA is not a checkpoint at the end — it is a continuous practice. Catching 30 issues before engineering saves 300 hours after launch.
